We just got a call from Anna and, as far as I could understand due to the static and bad connection, they’ve made it to the top of Kala Patthar (5600 m / 18500 ft) this morning around 8:00am.
Apparently they had quite a snow storm last night and the going wasn’t easy. They then went on to Base Camp this afternoon.
I won’t be able to post pictures until we’re back in Kathmandu (no way to get them off the SD card here) … but inserted above is a shot from Wikipedia. It’s exactly how I remember it looking when I was there in ’88.
Very very happy they made it!
